“In the name of God, stop a moment, cease your work, look around you.”
Sometimes, it is really easy to lose yourself in your work, especially if you work a lot of hours. You spend less time working out, hanging out with your friends, and visiting your family. I think it’s great to be dedicated to your job and loyal to your employer. It’s great to be ambitious and willing to take on extra work just to get ahead. However, at the same time, it is important to maintain your sanity and balance.
I recommend that everyone takes a step back and look at the big picture. Your job is ultimately just a job. It is a way of generating an income that hopefully is fulfilling for you at the same time. It is only part of a picture that includes your family, friends, health, wealth, personal integrity, goals etc. Part of the reason you work is to generate an income that you can save and use to build wealth. Remember that. You can switch from job to job while still holding on to the savings and wealth that you’ve built over time. If you hate the people you work with, the work becomes too overwhelming, or it consumes too much of your life, it may be worth considering doing something else, working for another company, or starting something on your own. Regardless of what you choose, always remember that a job is just a job and just one component of your life.
